I never thought of it that way but from that angle the segmentation reminds me of an orange...
Thanks for visiting my site Paul. About the painting, my friend gave me this pumpkin. Its called a Cinderella Pumpkin because it resembles the type her coach was created from. But you are right - it does appear to have segments.
