"Hollyhocks in the Alley" 11X14 oil on stretched canvas

SOLD

I love this painting! I took dozens of photos but none of them told the whole story. The darks are not dark enough and the lights aren't photographing strong enough. This one comes closest.

The detail are much sharper in the painting.
Normally I photograph my paintings outside in order to get the most accurate picture. But it has rained all day and been too gray. I will wait a couple of days to see if the sun breaks through. If it does I'll try to take a better picture to list this on eBay.

This turned out really well! Congratulations.

You may not live in the Southwest anymore, but you've clearly got the spirit still.

I'm interested in the ebay process (but not ready to go there myself)... under what headings do you list, and what work sells best for you?

Thanks for the support Edgar. About eBay - everything I know I learned as a result of other artist being generous enough to coach me along. Really was easy once I understood what I was doing. Kind of a long explaina tion though - tell you what, if you feel comfortable letting me email you a response drop me a note at cara.romero@yahoo.com and I send back all the gorey details...

It is a great piece. I like the window detail photo best but the whole work is pleasing.

Janelle - Thanks for visiting and for your comments - I am amazed daily at how well I feel when I think of what happened. The experience makes me feel desperate to do more with my life than sit behind a desk tho -

Good painting! Your love for New Mexico comes through in the architecture and the landscape. What is it about New Mexico? I live in AZ and it's pretty cool, but when I go to NM, well, it's just special.
You're an amazing person, too.

Cara said...

Melinda - Thank you for your kind comments - I appreciate them - About NM, I don't know - maybe its a magic brought on by the blending of the culture, I don't know - its just a vibe or something...

Cara, thanks for your comment about the boxes 'thing'. I am the same way. I just love the cardboard cigar boxes for their color and design and the wooden ones are awesome. I can't resist them. I bought one for each of my girlfriends.
By the way, are you aware that on your Bare Naked Me blog, the font is dark and the background is dark, making it unreadable.
I love the photo of you as a little girl and the prom photo of you is beautiful.

Thanks for the info about the colors on the other site - I fix it. By the way - for those of you who are wondering what we are talking about - visit Mary Blog and check out her cool field palette made out of a cigar box.

This is a breakthrough piece I think. The lights and darks and the speckled light...beautifully painted Cara. Looks good framed too.

Cara said...

Tod - Thank you so much - your comment means a lot to me. This particular canvas sat on the floor for a long time - After I got the underpainting on I was scared of it. I really had to puch myself to paint it. Glad I did-

Gorgeous paintings, love your work, keep your brush loaded with paint.

Cara said...

Kurt - Thanks for stopping by and for the encouagement. In my pretend world you would email me daily and remind me to keep my brush loaded with paint - its truely one of my shortcomings but I'm trying to improve in this are - Thanks again -

Oh Cara, yoo hoo, it is almost October. Try a pumpkin painting to get back into the harness.

Cara said...

Bill - I hope I'm always fortunate enough to have you stopping by and nagging me...I appreciate it.

I like it best in the top version, surrounded by black.
Very rich color, painterly feeling, yet with a sense of the real space and objects represented. It feels like an alley in the shade, inviting you to come into the cool shade, and then come on inside the open door. Which you can't see inside, but it's open, so that's intriguing.

Good work, Cara!
